Best Doc Appt EVAHHHH!

Great things that happened:

*Heard strong, healthy heartbeat and baby kicked Dr. M's doppler....even though I didn't feel it.
*Scheduled my gender reveal ultrasound for November 30th!!!!
*Was informed that for my glucose test on December 8th, I can eat 18 Jelly Belly jelly beans (any flavor) instead of drinking the orange stuff. THRILLED about that!!!!
*Was informed that I only gained 1 lb this month!!!!! My doctor is a stickler on the weight thing, so he was super happy with me. I will enjoy this because I am sure it won't last. Also...I am not going to weigh at home anymore. My scales are weighing MUCH heavier than the Doc's scales and freaking me out about weight gain. Apparently I am right on track.

They took 6 vials of blood to test for everything under the sun, but even that wasn't too bad because hub took me to eat Mexican food afterward.
Now, if those blood tests come back a-ok, I will be SUPER happy. :)

Pondering....

I have read several posts lately from women who are fighting infertility and want the world to know how hard it is to hear about others and their pregnancies, children etc. They feel like it's a slap to the face. I feel like I can speak about this because for 4 years I was that person. All of my friends had at least one kid, and I had answered the dreaded "when are you guys having kids?" question in a thousand different ways. My husband and I decided to get creative and make up a different reason each time. I once heard my husband (okay more than once) say, "Never...we hate kids" which sounds pretty harsh, but was funny at the time because that is not the truth at all, obviously. We just thought...hey--ask a rude question, you'll get a rude answer. ANYWAY, I know that I have become one of those bloggers who is doing pregnancy updates and you know, basically throwing my pregnancy all up in your face, and maybe I've lost readers because of that? I'm not sure, but I just want to say that once your on the other side of this (and God willing, you will be) it is almost impossible to not want to share what you have been yearning for, for so long. I've seen a lot of "try to put yourself in my shoes" quotes and that is definitely a phrase to live by...but it works both ways. Imagine trying for several years, successfully getting pregnant and then feeling like you can't even talk about it. Does that make sense? No one wins here, it doesn't get easier for the infertiles to read about pregnancy and it doesn't get easier for the pregnant women to know that they are being rude for talking about the most exciting thing in their lives....so where do I fit in? For 4 years, I had a "down with the preggos" mentality which was derived purely from jealousy. Now I have a "lemme talk about it because I'm excited omgomgomgomg" mentality which derives from, well.....excitement, so where am I going with this? I have no idea, other than I know how hard it is to read about success stories that you feel you're never going to live, but now I also know what it's like to feel guilty for being pregnant....my conclusion: put yourself in other's shoes, REGARDLESS of your situation.
I am 17 weeks and still have a paralyzing fear of something going wrong, so am I going to forget what it took to get here? Absolutely not. Do I feel like I deserve to talk about it? Absolutely. As does everyone else.....
I just felt like I need to let everyone know who is still struggling to have their baby, that I have not forgotten and never will and in no way want to throw anything in anyone's face....but dammit...I have waited to talk about this stuff for awhile and I think it's fair that I get to. :)

Have a good rest of the week! Please don't attack me with mean comments.

Week 17

How far along: 17 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: +12 lbs.

Maternity clothes: Completely maternity on bottom, mixing it up on the top.

Sleep: I'm still sleeping well, thankful for that.

Best moment of the week: Got some more baby gifts, but from the MIL this time.

Food cravings/aversions: I want HOT WINGS. Sadly, I haven't had them in a while.

Belly button in or out: In

Stretch marks: Nope

What I miss: Nothing really.

What I am looking forward to: My appt on the 10th.

Weekly wisdom: I was told that pregnant women aren't supposed to lift their arms above their head because it will wrap the umbilical cord around the baby's neck. That seems a bit ridiculous to me. I also got a few unpleasant looks from opting not to take a flu shot....AND I got griped at for lifting my 5 year old nephew, but my thoughts are--what if I had a kid already? Wouldn't I be lifting them or would I just ignore them for 9 months? Ok, that is all.

Week 16

How far along: 16 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: I didn't weigh this morning. I find that my mood is better when I don't.

Maternity clothes: Completely maternity on bottom, mixing it up on the top.

Sleep: Still sleeping well even despite the bathroom breaks.

Best moment of the week: Mom brought me some baby gifts that are pretty cute.

Food cravings/aversions: No cravings, but do not confuse that with no appetite. I assure you that they mean completely different things.

Belly button in or out: In

Stretch marks: Nope

What I miss: My obsessiveness to keep my house clean, now I just pick it up and reward myself with junk food and a nap. Nice huh?

What I am looking forward to: My appt on the 10th.

Weekly wisdom: I would like to take this time to thank R & J Turner for the details that they shared on how to make sure that a baby boy is "clean" when you change their diaper. And I would like to thank my good friend J, for her advice that works for many situations and that would be "Don't touch it and it will go away."

First official somewhat belly pic....

I didn't realize this was being taken. 15 weeks and 5 days
*A few things: If you click on this you can see it clearer, we are celebrating Halloween at work so that's why there are costumes (I am not dressed up as anything), apparently the waist of my pants are cutting the girth in half, I like to think I am not quite that lumpy. :)

Week 15

How far along: 15 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: SIIIIGGGGGHH. According to my scales, about 10 pounds. Yep--if my calculations are correct I will have successfully gained 900 pounds by April of next year. Awesome. And I do care, I really really do--except that for me, hungry=sick feeling, and that's something I care more about right now than the weight gain. The weather is gorgeous, I'm going to start walking 30 minutes a day to see if that helps. Okay, moving on.

Maternity clothes: Still mixing, although probably going with more maternity than non-maternity.

Sleep: I still sleep just fine except that I am having some horrible dreams that make me feel more tired in the morning than I did before I went to sleep. Still peeing roughly 7 times a night. Seriously.

Best moment of the week: JT and I went baby furniture window shopping this weekend. Fun and also overwhelming. I'm not buying anything until I know the sex because I have different ideas on the color of the furniture.

Food cravings/aversions: No sweets. Still eating pickles. I mostly just like food in general.

Belly button in or out: In

Stretch marks: Nope

What I miss: I found a pic on my phone of me in a bikini....enough said. haha

What I am looking forward to: My appt on the 10th.

Weekly wisdom: Wisdom ha! I just keep saying really dumb things. This week I asked my husband what Sacajawea is famous for and also confused French with Japanese!!!!

Would have taken a picture this morning, but I forgot. Yes, I forgot again.

Wordy Wednesday...

That's right--I started my own thing. Wordless Wednesday just wasn't for me. lol

I shaved my legs today. That honestly deserves it's own post because it is a pretty major thing, but I'm not sure that you're quite as interested as I am. (or my husband, bless his heart)

I have a question for you all, mostly IVFers though....I have read that when ICSI is involved, the odds of having a girl are higher than someone who conceives, well....any other way. Do any of you have any personal or even non-personal experiences with this? They say that the girl embryos are tougher than the boy embryos, therefore the girls are more likely to survive the ICSI process. Did I read a bogus article or have you heard this too? Just curious.

I put together a pretty cute outfit today, but it involves wearing a jean jacket all day because there is a spaghetti strap dress underneath. I am burning alive right now and questioning if maybe I should consider changing deodorants.

The work that I am doing today is pretty repetitive, so I am of course having a hard time doing it without taking breaks every 5 seconds minutes or so to surf the Internet or to blog. My A.D.D. is in full gear and I cannot WAIT until April when I can just stay home and not stare at this computer anymore.

Also, my friends think it's hysterical that my spelling and grammar has gone to crap in our emails. This is not good because I am normally STRICT about this type of thing and correct their errors. I've been told this is karma also mixed with a brain-sucking baby. :)

Someone asked me in my last post I think....if I was going to reveal the gender and the name, when I know those things. I do have names picked out for both sexes and I will reveal those when I reveal the sex....which is right about the day that I find it out. So there you go.

Happy Wednesday.
