Transfer details and previous post correction

A couple posts ago I used the title The Tale of the Transfer--when did I realize that I meant to put Retrieval??? Today. Today while I was laying on the bed doing the splits in mid-air waiting on my Transfer to take place. Someone should have corrected me!!! LOL

Transfer was today. Doctor kept going on and on about how promising everything looks. My embryos were so good that she recommended that we just transfer 1, but I asked for 2 and she allowed it. So, according to Dr. B--we have and 80% chance of pregnancy based on our age/issues/embroyo quality and we have a 50% chance of twins. Those sound like pretty good odds to me, but I am still afraid to even half way get excited about it.
Dr. B thought that we would definitely have at least 1 embryo to freeze and she thought that the chances of a baby coming from an FET for us was also very good.

Boy do I hope she is right!!!!

Fert Report

Out of 19 eggs, 7 fertilized. I was not thrilled with this number yesterday when I found out, I guess I just expected more. They peformed ICSI to fertilize those and nurse says that all 7 look great for now. So please keep praying that my 7 embabies fight hard!!! Will check on them later today.
On another note: I feel worse today than I did the day of the retrieval. I don't feel any signs of what I think OHSS would feel like, but it's not fun to go to the bathroom in any sort of way and I still can't comfortably wear my jeans. How long did it take you to feel back to 100% after retrieval?

Dun dun dun...the tale of the TRANSFER

Well, the transfer was yesterday and from what I have read (obsessed about) on many many blogs is that it went about as normal as it could go. We got there at 9:00 and sat around until about 9:15 until the nurse pulled us back to question me about allergies and etc. Then I got to put on the lovely getup and hairnet and these crazy socks, which I was a little disappointed in because I bought the cutest polka dots socks just for the occasion, but oh well. Anesthesiologist comes to talk to me and ask me all of the questions that the nurse just asked. Hub and I kept trying not to giggle because he had a really strong British accent. J kept whispering in my ear things like, "Would you like a spot of tea mate?" and "Let's put another shrimp on the barbie." because lets just face it--hub and I don't get out that much. lol
So they take me back to the OR and I lie down. Here is where my experience is different than some. (I think) They had me lay my arms out and they covered me with warm blankets...but they did not make me put my legs through stirrups which I thought they did for most people, in fact he started my IV--nurse asked me if I was okay and the next thing I know I am waking up in the recovery room. I didn't even find out that my actual RE is not the one who did the surgery until after I was somewhat awake, which is fine, I have met this other doctor a few times and she is really nice and I have heard awesome things about her as well. So--hub is sitting there waiting on me to fully wake up. IVF nurse is explaining the meds that I need to take when we get home and when she leaves I ask him several questions and he keeps giggling. The thing is that I KNEW I was asking the same questions over and over again, but I couldn't remember the answers that he had given me. He thought that was funny. Oh well.

I came to pretty easily. I was pretty dizzy for like an hour after that, but I didn't feel nauseated. In fact, I made hub take me to Buffalo Wild Wings to eat lunch afterwards. I had originally been nervous about the 2 hour car ride home--but I wasn't feeling any pain at that time so it was just fine. We went to Wal-Mart and got my prescrips filled, and then we went to the movie store and the bank and by that time I was ready to go home and lay down. So as the night went on, I started to feel a little more pain and I took a pain pill and watched movies and hub took me to get ice cream. Through the night, I peed every hour on the hour--not exactly sure why. And then this morning I am feeling some more pain than yesterday. Nothing intolerable, but not fun nonetheless.

So the most important part of this post that never ends is that they retrieved 19 eggs! My doctor seemed very pleased with this number and the way everything went. They did say that because they retrieved so many, I need to be on guard for OHSS. Hopefully that won't be an issue. And then last night my Mom sent me a text about 19 eggs and being the next Duggar family! Ha--I DOUBT IT!

I call today to find out how many eggs fertilized, etc--so I am just praying that we get some good news there.

Thanks for the prayers and good luck wishes on my last post. I am starting to really love my bloggy friends!!! :)

Also--the needles for the Progesterone shots are wigging me out. Someone tell me that they feel like a feather when you stab them into your buttcheek....someone tell me that, please.

I need valium.

I am trying not to be a total spaz, but I am scared to death I am going to screw something up. I work at a desk where I am free to roam the Internet and I cannot for the life of me stay off of it long enough to do some actual work, which just keeps piling higher and higher. I read ALL of your blogs and especially those who did/are doing IVF and I keep going to older posts to read your experiences so that I will know what to expect. I have issues.

Anywho--I had an appt this morning and Dr. P (God Bless Him) was happy with what he saw as far as follicles go. I have several that are measuring around 11 and apparently that's pretty good for now. So I am good with that and I am just waiting to call my PRN to find out my bloodwork results and what to do next. So--I started reading about some of you who stimmed for like 10 or 11 days and I am adding up in my head how much Follistim is left. Well--not enough, I will tell you that right now. I have about 5 shots left, meaning 2 more days after today, which will put me on Day 9 which is not Day 10 or 11. Grrrr. I just want to see into the future. And there I am all spazzing out. So I guess I will just spaz for a couple more hours until I find out something and then give my weekly freakout call to my IVF nurse if I have some sort of questions. (which I will)

Side effects thus far:
1) I am getting a little crampy--not too bad yet. Dr. P (the one that God is blessing) says I will start to feel more and more uncomfortable with each passing day. There's something to look forward to, although the magic wand is becoming more and more irritating with my ever swelling ovaries, so I am thinking I will be dreading that. Not like I enjoy it already.
2) HEADACHES. Omg, I have had a constant headache for like 5 days straight. Of course, I am only allowed to take Tylenol, which I think is helping for like 10 minutes at a time and then the headache is back. It's not unbearable, life goes on.
3) Weird appetite issues. I am about to rip apart a Taco Bell at one moment and then the very next, I cannot think of a single thing that I want to eat. I had to get up at 5 this morning to drive to Tulsa. (2 hours) So far I have had 2 bites of a granola bar (only because I have to eat with the Dexamethason) and a coffee. I feel sickly, yet I cannot think of one single thing that I want for lunch. And this is causing cooking to be even less enjoyable because I can't come up with anything to cook because NOTHING sounds good. haha--I would like to lose my appetite all together, so let's hope for that. :)

Ok--you've endured enough whining. If IVF works this will all be worth it. Fingers crossed.
Now I am off to find a sammich (barf) or something before I pass out. haha

RE Update!

My estrogen levels were "great" and I made all of the follicles that they want me to make. BUT...they still want me to take Follistim for 2 more days and that confuses me a little...I guess they know more about it than me, Ha!
Anyway, I will take that good news and hope that Thursday's appointment goes well too.
